Last night we had our 34 week visit with Sonya. We have another at 36 weeks and then we start going weekly. It is hard to believe how close we are getting! Sonya was great as ever--she even came despite having a flat tire on the way! Now that the garden is coming in like mad we took the opportunity to load her down with zucchini, yellow squash, garden peas, squash relish, cucumbers and mango jam last night. So far we've gotten over 40 cucumbers and over 50 yellow squash and zucchini. Covey has been a canning fool!
Cletus is measuring smaller than in previous visits because he has DROPPED!! (Covey is thrilled to know this because she was concerned about how much she would have to pee later on if he hadn't already dropped!) He is also head down and appears to be very happy that way. Sonya got to see some of Cletus' action but he was fairly sedate yesterday. He spent most of his energy eeking out those hormones and growing, making Covey very nauseous. Covey was actually up most of Wednesday night throwing up :(
Sonya estimated that Cletus was about 6-6 1/2 lbs last night. This is great news!! He is a big, healthy baby! I think every pregnant woman who has only managed to gain 5 lbs total is concerned about the baby growing enough. If we go to full term, Sonya thinks the baby will weigh about 8 1/2-9lbs. (Needless to say Covey is hoping we might go a little bit early so that she doesn't have to deliver a 9 lb baby!) Sonya is still thinking it might be the end of July instead of the beginning of August, but of course you never know.
Sonya brought our birthing kit and our co-sleeper last night. The birthing kit isn't really exciting--gauze, footprint card, thermometer, pads to soak up stuff, a plastic sheet etc. The co-sleeper however is pretty darn cool. Covey set it up this morning in the bedroom so that she can get used to it being there and so that the dog can get used to seeing it there. Here is a picture of the co-sleeped in the bedroom and another of Covey showing how easy it will be to reach the baby.
