Well technically as of 6pm today only POP! POP!
Twice today, while Covey was in the middle of doing stuff at work, it felt like a popcorn kernal went off. Since it didn't repeat when she was being still and concentrating on it she isn't 100% sure that she is feeling the baby, BUT since this is our first pregnancy and she is 16 weeks along, she is claiming that it is the baby moving.

Maybe we will change Cletus' name to Orville??

Mountain Dew Really Funny

This commercial is really funny. In general I am a huge fan of making animals talk and this goes one step further and makes them sing!!
It rocks!

I like how it is in green too--like night vision goggles.

16 Weeks=4 Months

According to my "Pregnancy Weekly"
This is day number 112 and you're 16 weeks pregnant!
You have 168 days or 24 weeks left, and are 40.0% of the way there.

Nothing much new to report except now I am avoiding all onions, rasins, broccoli or anything that might be a gas producer. I want to feel my baby move and I don't want to think that it is gas. 16 weeks is when it is supposed to flutter and since I have the day off of work today I plan to sit back and try and feel it.

We have another midwife visit next week on Thursday and both of us are really looking forward to hearing the heartbeat again. We have decided to invite Sherry and Snookie, Justin's parents, to come and listen as well. It will also give them a chance to meet our midwife and chill out a bit about the idea of a home birth.

Gimme a "G"--Gimme a "O"

For those of you who may not know, cheerleading is for everyone, even clumsy plus sized pregnant women. That's right! Since January 1st Covey has been the lead coach for the Upward Dolphins C
heerleading Team!!!

Upward is an awesome program and at our church we have basketball and cheerleading. I have the itty-bitty cheerleaders, 10 Kindergarten and First Graders and one 3-year-old mascot. They are soooooo cute!!! Upward's motto this year is "Its not all about me." Every practice the girls say a memory verse. If they do so they get a star sticker for their megaphone. At the games there are several star stickers they can get but the most coveted one is the white "Christlikeness" star. Only one of these is given out every game.

This past week in practice we presented the plan of salvation. 6 of my girls wanted more information and God allowed me to l
ead two of them to Christ. One of the girls is unchurched and her mother is unchurched. When we told her mother about the decision her mother said: "Well I guess we are going to have to start coming to Peace. What time does Sunday School start?"
All I have to say is: "GO GOD!!" Way to open her heart and her mind to her daughter's decision.

Here is a picture of Covey on game day. Justin went to his first game last Saturday. He thought our cheers were funny (remember I am not a cheerleader so I have our girls making muscle arms when we chant "We're Solid" and other sorts of things that normal cheerleaders probably wouldn't do). He also thought that the 2nd graders strategy for playing the game (basically I want the ball--don't touch me--which basket is mine?) was pretty funny. All in all I think he enjoyed himself.

Tropical Baby

Whew!! Babies ain't cheap!
Cletus continues to make Covey sick but she has discovered that he does enjoy eating a few select (expensive) food items:

Fresh Pineapple (not canned!)
Honeydew Melon
Red Bell Peppers
Yellow Bell Peppers
Bryers Fruit on the Bottom Yogurt
Cheese--specifically CheeseHead String Cheese
Dry Toast with seedless strawberry jam
Lender's cinnamon rasin bagels with Philadelphia FULL FAT cream cheese (this is a special treat for Cletus)

Covey is right now at -20lbs and 15 1/2 weeks pregnant.

Grapefruit Baby!

15 weeks down!! Only 25 to go!!
According to my pregnancy book our baby is now 4 1/2 inches long and about the size of a grapefruit.

Covey is back down to -17 lbs :( Nausea has come back with a vengance for the past two weeks and kept Covey home from work two days this week. She is really ready for a break and to start enjoying this being pregnant thing. Poor Justin can't really empathize too much--Covey has threatened to put a drop or two of Syrup of Ipecac in his coffee every morning so he can feel a bit of what it has been like. So far she hasn't followed through.

Covey has decided that other women are really annoying when it comes to the nausea thing. They always say one of two things after commenting on how pale/sick/tired she looks:
1) I was sick the whole 9 months, you think its bad now!! Wait until your feet get swollen and your back starts hurting. Then you will be wishing for the nausea.
2) I was never sick. Have you tried eating saltines before you get out of bed?

UGH!! Saltines aren't that great and its not like she hasn't already heard that advice about 600 times! Also, she's miserable enough right now. We don't want to start looking ahead to what is to come.

So far we have been consoling ourselves with the knowledge that in August this will all be over, and at most we are going to have to do this again 2 more times. I know in the end it will be worth it, otherwise humans would have died out a long time ago.

14 Weeks and Counting . . .

Yeah!!! Covey's first trimester is over!!

Covey managed to ruin Justin's birthday dinner this past Saturday night. It was only the second time since being pregnant she has eaten out in a restaurant and all the smells from all the food . . . well it was just too much to take. Sherry (Covey's mother-in-law) graciously sat with Covey in the lobby while the rest of the family ate their dinner.

Everyone says the nausea will ease during the second trimester. We hope so! Since Saturday, Covey's "house of cards" has fallen and she has been nauseous all day every day. That was after almost 2 full weeks of no nausea. Other than nausea and being tired though there aren't any symptoms-no baby pooch or nuthin'. Everyone says nausea is a good sign that there are lots of pregnancy hormones going through the body. A sick mom means a healthy baby. This one should be able to run a marathon once its out!!

So far the big baby debate is over sex:
Covey thinks a girl
Justin thinks a girl
Sherry thinks a girl
Snookie thinks a baby
Grandpa Jordan thinks a girl
Grandma Jordan thinks a boy
Linda thinks a boy
Mac thinks a girl
Cody and Krysti think a girl

I think the girls have it but we will just have to wait and see. We are just praying for a healthy baby! Luckily, no one is suggesting names. Looking back on our family trees it is fairly certain we won't be going with a family name--Lula Belle or Woodrow Reed anyone???

Looking Back--Sherry and Snookie Find Out

Here's the video of Sherry and Snookie (Justin's parents) finding out they were going to be grandparents. This is on Christmas morning.

Midwife Madness

13 weeks along. . . It's Midwife Time!!!!

Tonight marked our first visit with our midwife, Sonya. For those of you who don't know we decided to go with a midwife as long as the pregnancy is progressing "normally." Right now we have discontinued care with our OB-GYN basically because she was a jerk and didn't let us ask any questions. If problems arise, we will be finding another OB-GYN. Hopefully though, the midwife will be able to do the care throughout the whole pregnancy. We are also praying that God will bless us and let us deliver the baby at home. Again, this depends on whether or not everything goes "normally" with the pregnancy.

We have had our consultation with Sonya already. She spent about 2 hours answering our questions and getting to know us. She is a great Christian woman. She has five children and homeschools them all. Her last two kids were born at home. Tonight, our visit lasted about an hour and 45 minutes. Needless to say this is so much better than the 4 minutes the OB spent with us!! Justin's only complaint was that I scheduled our appointment during the UNC game (Go Heels!!!)

She actually comes and does the prenatal visits in our home. That is so nice!! A 7pm visit means neither one of us has to miss work. That is a HUGE bonus!

Tonight we got to hear Cletus' heartbeat for the first time (Cletus is our fetus--Justin named it :) ). We were so excited!!! Cletus was also very active. Scooting around quite a bit and trying to avoid the doppler. Click here to see the video the heartbeat. (Justin took the video and was mainly concerned with the sound. If you look at the end you can see me grinning like an idiot but it is mainly a shot of the back of the couch)

Weird fact: According to pregnant Covey, all tomato products (including her beloved ketchup) are nasty and cucumbers are the best thing that God has ever invented.

Weird fact: Covey's total pregnancy gain: -15 pounds! That is up from her all time low of -17 pounds at 10 1/2 weeks. Grow baby grow!!
