Elijah hasn't been sleeping well at night so he has been pretty tired lately. Here is a picture of him after his bath the other night--he just couldn't hold those eyes open any longer and crashed in the chair. (Yes he is really long--took him to the doctor to see if there was any reason he wasn't sleeping and there wasn't but he is 18 lbs and 28 inches long--not bad for an almost 5 month old).

Then Christmas morning rolled around. Here is Elijah on his present from mommy and daddy--a swing! It served its purpose well--it was raining cats and dogs and we were still able to swing. This should be a lifesaver on the days when it is too wet to go to the park.
Here is Elijah modeling the hat that Granny and Grampy got him--pretty cute huh?
Finally, we headed over to Great-Grandmama and Grandpa's house. It was about 80 degrees inside so Elijah was decked out in his onesie--nothing more needed. The biggest hit of the day was the walking toy that Grandmama and Granpa got him. The handle was apparantly very tasty because he loved to chew on it.

Sorry all you blog readers--haven't had much time to post lately. Elijah's great-grandpa came home from the hospital last week and I have been over there helping out a little bit. My friend Jen also needed some help as she is 7 months pregnant and using a walker due to a fractured pelvis. I have been visiting her and helping her to run some errands in preparation for the holidays. Also, loaned my camera to a friend so they could take some Christmas portraits so I haven't had a chance to take many cute pictures lately either--Excuses Excuses!!
Update on us: We are pretty much geared up and ready to go for Christmas. Got the cookie dough chilling in the fridge (Dutch Windmill--YUM!) just have to find the time to roll it out! Tree is up, presents are wrapped and we are eager for Monday to get here.
Elijah and Sleeping: Well, it isn't going so hot with Elijah. For about a month now we have been only doing one feeding a night. I have been stubborn and strict about that! Unfortunately I think Elijah just doesn't have a very good internal clock--he doesn't seem to get tired at the same times or want to eat at the same times or any of that. So it didn't matter if he at at 10pm or 8pm, he would still wake up and want to eat 4 or 5 times a night (sometimes we get up even more than that). The only thing I could figure is that he was thinking "Sometimes mommy feeds me sometimes she doesn't, lets see if she feeds me this time!" The pediatrician said to try and not "reward" him when he wakes up by feeding or rocking him. Just do the minimum to get him to sleep. Two nights ago I decided to not feed him at all during the night. (He is 20 lbs now so I know he has enough body weight to make it for 8 hours). We have made it through two nights--I was sure Elijah wasn't going to starve but he really didn't believe me. Last night he fussed from 1:30am-5:00am (I finally gave in at 5am because he had eaten at 9pm so that was 8 hours). The night before was pretty much the same except he slept from 3-4am and got fed at 6am instead. He isn't all out screaming or anything just very fretful and whimpering and if I let it go on it will turn into an all out wail. I don't really have the heart to let him cry it out so I go in there and comfort him. Last night's big improvement is that I didn't pick him up at all. I laid him down and just re-swaddled or patted him or gave him a paci to calm him back down. I think I am doing remarkably well considering how little sleep I am getting an how weak my reserves are at 3am!! We are determined to try this for 7 days and see if there is any improvement. If there isn't we are going to try something else.
Finally--Most of you are going to get a Christmas Letter from us--here is the picture at the bottom of the letter in case you want to see it a bit larger--I love the look on Elijah's face!

Today is my birthday. My wonderful husband took the day off of work to celebrate with me. This morning we did gifts (Elijah was sleeping but I just couldn't wait!) and then I left Elijah in his daddy's capable hands while I went and got a haircut. Here is a picture of the new 'do.
Justin got me an extra large Pampered Chef Pizza stone (something I have wanted so much but been too cheap to buy for myself!) and some bubble bath for dry skin and some body wash that I love the smell of. Way to go hubby!! My parents got me 10 personal training sessions at the gym!! I am so excited! Maybe now I can get my bottom to be the same size as my top and I can buy dresses!
Tonight I a going on a date with my man. Where did I choose?? Quiznos Subs--the best subs on the planet! I love the subs there and Justin doesn't and they are very expensive for a sandwich so we hardly ever go. I am so excited! If we aren't too stuffed from the subs we might go down two doors and get some ice cream from Cold Stone since I didn't want a birthday cake.

A new development over the past week or so is that Elijah finally realized that we have a dog. He is absolutely thrilled when she comes up to him and sniffs him. He also looks around for her when we are in the living room. (For those of you with good eyes-yes that is a bib FULL of drool!)

Today is Elijah's official 4 month anniversary!
He is really coming into his own--he is laughing, smiling, sitting up (for about 40 seconds), grabbing things, eating cereal, and only eating once a night (though he continues to wake up about 4 times a night). Yep--every month seems to get better and better. It hard to believe that a year ago I was sick as can be and he was just a little lump of cells inside me.

On a completely unrelated note--"Happy Harley-days." It is cold and windy today and time for some long clothes once again. We broke out the Harley jumpsuit and it was so cute mama had to take a picture.
