Little Swimmer

Elijah got to try out his baby pool today. We are going to have to get another pool because this one is inflatable and two of the three hoops are popped :( Oh well--it lasted 3 years of church kids playing in it and I only paid $5 so I think I got my money's worth.

Here he is warming up. Hose water--even if its sat in the sun several hours, is still colder than bath water.
Here he is playing in the chair, in the pool. He wanted the chair in the pool so he could splash and not have to sit all the way in the water and be cold. Pretty inventive guy :)

Catching Up

Whew! It's been a while since the last EJ picture post so here you go EJ junkies :)

Here is a picture of Elijah on our front porch in Va with Grampy. He was having a blast. We hated to put him in the carseat to come home but it was necessary. He did a good job with Granny back there feeding him every time he opened his mouth to fuss.
Here is a picture from Saturday when daddy scared a HUGE lizard out of the day lilies near the screened in porch. He was trimming out with the weed whacker and it jumped on the screen. Elijah thought it was pretty cool. Its neat that he will look where we point now.

Here is a picture of Elijah after his "Naked nap." He woke up and came to bed with us today after church (in an effort to get him to nap longer which he sorely needed). He was wet through his cloth diaper (the nursery workers try their best!) and so we just stripped him naked and tucked him in. He slept for about 15 minutes and then woke up. He was dry so I took him in the bathroom and ran the sink and after about 30 seconds he peed. One diaper saved! After he peed I decided to let him play for a while in his room naked and came back to find him dancing to the music on his toy. I have a video too but daddy wouldn't let me post that :)

Elijah's biggest accomplishment this week is that he climbed all 4 stairs at church this morning. Mommy was chatting and didn't notice him until he was already on stage. It was OK--it was early during the orchestra warm up, not during the service. It's hard to believe he has only been crawling since Easter and now he is climbing stairs!

Prayers Please

Justin's grandfather, Horace Jordan, passed away this morning at 2am after suffering two strokes on Thursday and Friday of last week. The family was gathered around him at his bedside at Wake Med Hospital.

Please pray for the family as they struggle with this loss. Justin's family is very close knit and this is an especially tough loss. Pray specifically for Grandma Jordan and Justin's mom, Sherry, as they were at the hospital with Grandpa since Thursday. They were sleeping in the waiting room and hadn't left the hospital so they are drained not only emotionally but physically as well.

Please pray for Me and Elijah as we travel back to NC today. We came up Monday to visit with my family and to allow Justin the freedom to go up to Raleigh daily without worrying about us at home alone.

Why are you wet Elijah?

Mommy was planting squash, carrots, beans, spuds, cucumbers and zucchini. Daddy and Elijah were supposed to come along behind me and water the seeds. Click here to find out how Elijah got dripping wet.

Happy Birthday Nana and Bradley

Yesterday was Nana's birthday. Here is a shot of the cake we made her (Elijah helped by eating some of the icing while I was decorating the cake). Her nickname is turtle for those of you wondering why there is a turtle cake.

Here's a shot of the birthday girl with great grandmama and grandpa. We went to the Rib Hut and everyone got lei-ed.

Here is Elijah playing with his 2nd cousin Bradley. Bradley's birthday is later on this week but we did a family celebration last night.

Mowing with Mommy

Daddy was busy with the weed whacker and the gas lawn mower in the back. Elijah and mommy helped out in the front with our old-fashioned push mower. Elijah liked it a lot.

Shout Out to Grampy Mac . . .From his Little Parakeet

Grampy--We saw this parrot hat at the dollar tree and knew we had to get it. Elijah is wearing his Hawaiian onesie and the hat just for you! Hope you enjoy!

Click here for a video (plug your ears if you don't want to hear me sing!).

Here is Elijah with his new "Paci-Pal" Mommy theorized that Elijah was waking up because he couldn't find his paci to get back to sleep. Normally I would have to go in there, lay him down (he is usually sitting up crying) and give him his paci and he would go right back to sleep. It was quick and easy but happened 2 times a night or so. (I never thought I would have a paci addict but after 8 months of him not sleeping, anything that works is fine by me :) So yesterday I sewed his paci onto a miniature beanie baby we had up in the attic in a bag of toys someone had given us. It seemed to work well--Elijah didn't wake me up at all until 4:50am. That is a new record for him. 9:00-4:50am! Wow! I hope this is a trend!

Crawling Wonder

Although not fast Elijah is crawling. He doesn't have much stamina yet but he is able to get around. Hope to have a video soon! He started yesterday doing more than one or two lunges--he will actually go across the whole room now.

He also took three steps at church last night.

Mmmmm . . . Corn Muffin

Were not sure how much corn muffin actually got into his mouth--most of it was in his lap, on the floor or on the tray.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter! We had a good day--Praise God! Elijah finished cutting his tooth and his ear infection has gone away on its own. Justin got over the food poising and was able to go to practice yesterday and perform this morning. Here are some pics from our Easter. Elijah doesn't look very "Easter-y" because the temps were just above freezing so we couldn't use the Easter outfit we got at Goodwill. Oh well. . .

Here he is with the bunny his Granny and Grampy got him.
Here he is with mommy. Mommy braved the cold in her Easter dress.
Here he is with daddy after we got home. They are matching in their sweaters and khaki pants. They changed before our lunch.
Here is the lunch crowd. Justin's parents and Covey's brother and his wife joined us for Easter lunch.
An updated family shot.

Last night, Elijah did not want to go to bed. I laid him down then daddy went up to tuck him in after a few minutes of crying. After still more crying, I went back up there. He was sitting in his crib and when he saw me raised both arms to get picked up and said "Mama, Mama" in the most pitiful voice. This is the first time he has actually called me mama to my face so of course I melted and picked him up and rocked him.

Happy 8 Months Elijah

Elijah is 8 months old today! Here is a video of his latest crawling efforts.
Click on the picture for the video. I like this picture because his bib looks like a cape--Superbaby!

Elijah is pretty miserable--he has an ear infection and a tooth coming in. Tylenol is our friend. Were going to the doctor on Monday for a checkup and if the ear infection persists will probably get our first round of antibiotics :( We are hoping Elijah is going to beat the infection on his own.

Daddy is also sick--he has food poisoning and is home from work today. Please pray for Justin because he is supposed to have a rehearsal for the Easter program tomorrow (Sat) morning and play in the program on Sunday morning.

On an unrelated note--this is the 200th blog posting :)

Grandmama's Azalea

We went to lunch today at great-grandmama's house and her azaleas were in full bloom. Here are some pics of the big azalea and our afternoon at the great-grandparents house.

EJ Lionbutt Cruizin' along

Here he is in the new jammys from Granny and Grampy. He is now cruising quite well--he will grab and walk around. He also is falling onto his butt instead of his face most of the time. (That's daddy's leg--mama needs to shave but not that badly!!)

On the crawling front:
  • he is able to go from his belly to sitting :)
  • he can get from his belly to his knees
  • he will get on his knees, try and scoot forward and do a belly flop--repeatedly
Guesses on when he will crawl:
Grampy: 4/1
Cody: 4/4
Covey: 4/5
Granny: 4/8
Justin: Never--he will go straight to walking

Comment if you want to weigh in Nana and Papa :)
