Yes Indeed . . .I'm Walking

In a walker that is :)
Here is a cute video of Elijah enjoying the 60 degree weather walking around the driveway. We also enjoyed a nice long walk this afternoon. Click on the picture of the walker for video.

The tooth is all the way thorough and last night was much better--we were only up twice. Elijah's appetite is also back with a vengeance--he is eating so much now! He was basically on breast milk only for Sunday-Tuesday because his mouth was bothering him. Today he had a yogurt, applesauce, size 3 baby food, cereal (puffed cereal probably 1/4 cup), 1/2 an avocado cubed up, 15 black beans, 2 slices of peach, 2 slices of apple, 20 goldfish crackers and nursed 8 times--whew!

The Tooth and Nothing but the Tooth!

Here is the best I could do--Elijah isn't being very cooperative with the tooth pictures. For a funny video of his reaction to "Winter Squash" baby food click here.

Spaghetti Face and Helping Daddy

Here's a picture from today at lunch when Elijah got his own spaghetti. We thought he was pretty cute.

Tooth update: His tooth is 1/2 way out, its the bottom left one. We are hoping the other half comes more easily than the first. He was up several times last night and is just not his normal happy self. So far we have only been able to see the tooth when he is screaming so we don't have a picture yet. Mommy hopes that tomorrow we will be able to try and snap a quick one to post.

Mr. Milkman

Elijah signed "Milk" to his Nana yesterday when he was hungry instead of crying.

He also signed "Eat" several times with his Mommy this morning--he was begging for bites of her peanut butter sandwich.

That's two words for my munchkin now! Not bad for 6 1/2 months!

EJ and Mommy at the Park

It is 70 degrees today so we took full advantage of the nice weather and headed to the park this morning before heading over to Nana and Papa's for the afternoon. Here is a picture of the happy swinger and one of mommy and Elijah. Elijah has started giggling like mad while in the swing. I am hoping it will be nice this weekend so that Justin can go with us to the park and hear it. It is so cute!

Little Biker Boy

OK so this isn't a Harley, its a hippo, but it still looks cute with the 'do rag and the Harley outfit.

Here's one of the happy Harley jumper.

Baby in the Mirror

It was sunny but chilly today. Elijah and I went to the park the came home and kept swinging since he had such a good time. Here is a picture of the little man. This morning he was especially giggleful--click here to see what he thought of the baby in the mirror.

He did it again!

Elijah slept on Saturday night from 10pm-5am without getting up! Whoo-hoo!!
Last night he got up once. This is SOOOOO much better than getting up 5 or 6 times a night!

Also, Elijah signed his first word without prompting. Up until now he has been copying signs but never signing spontaneously. Yesterday while nursing he looked me right in the eyes and signed milk. When I asked him later if he was done nursing he signed milk again and resumed sucking. I was pretty darned excited--my little boy can "talk" now.

Sore Teeth Standing

Elijah is having some serious mouth pain and has a nice big lump on the bottom gum. It isn't white or anything yet so no idea when the tooth might come but he is knawing on everything (more so than usual).
He is also flat out refusing to crawl--he will turn on his back if you try and put him on his belly. He can now sit up unassisted for a really long time and can also pull himself up to standing (though he normally just pulls himself over and falls). Here is a picture of him playing outside his exersaucer.

Weekend at Granny and Grampy's

We had a good time in Charlottesville this past weekend. It was the first time we've been since October! Elijah did great in the car--very little fussing. Here are some hilights form the trip:

Not sitting, no jumping, no exersaucer. . .what did we do?

Elijah got toted around in a sling all day.
He helped mommy with dishes and laundry and feeding the dog. . .
Mommy got her cardio workout yesterday for sure!
We even figured out how to nurse in the sling because he didn't even want to sit still long enough to nurse yesterday.

Little Sore Legs

Question for experienced parents . . . How long will Elijah's legs hurt? He is still flat out pitiful today. I have given some tylenol but after about 3 hours he is back to whimpering again. His legs hurt him awake twice last night and he doesn't want to sit, jump or be in his exersaucer. I just want an idea of how long he's going to be like this--72 hours, a week??? He has some pretty good bruises and some mild swelling at both injection sites.

Happy 1/2 Birthday Elijah!

In honor of his 1/2 birthday, Elijah got a half of a birthday cake.

Elijah had already had his bath so mommy fed him a little bit of cake by hand rather than let him feed himself. He really LOVES icing :) What's not to love about sugar and fat??

It's a Miracle!

Praise God! Elijah slept through the night last night! Thanks to the many prayers of our friends and family Elijah slept from 9pm until 4:45am! Mommy of course did not sleep that long--she kept going in to make sure he wasn't dead. He had his shots yesterday and I was sure it was anaphalaxis or something that was keeping him so quiet. Fortunately he was just a very tired little boy!

Today is Elijah's official 6 month birthday! He will be 6 months old at 3:26pm today! Its hard to believe that 6 months ago I was in labor--it seems like so long ago!

Here's a shot of Elijah "helping" his daddy with our new garage door opener on Saturday. I will post pics of Elijah's 1/2 birthday party tomorrow.

The Baby's Been Shot!

Today Elijah got his first round of vaccinations. Two shots--one in each leg. I have to say, he cries harder when I change his diaper at 1am than he did for those shots. He took it like a little man. We had some tylenol about 20 minutes before thes hots and we nursed immediately afterwards and he was grinning and giggling with the nurse who did the offending deed on the way out of the office. He doesn't seem to be bothered by his legs at all (yet??).

Three nights of only getting up one time. This morning he slept until 6am instead of 5am!

WOW!

Daddy's the Shiz!

Well last night Elijah only got up one time thanks to Daddy (and I am sure the prayers of my whole Sunday School and myself!)

I had (for the past two nights) been getting Justin up the 4th time Elijah got up (usually around 2 or 3 am) and noticing Elijah would just take a paci and go to sleep for his daddy until 5am or so. Last night, Elijah got up at 1am for the first time so I tried to calm him down and he wasn't having any of it (apparantly in the middle of the night mama is good for milk and nothing else!). So I sent in Justin who changed his diaper and rocked him and put him in his crib. Elijah fussed about 3 minutes (I was counting!!) but never really "lost it." He put himself to sleep and slept from 1:30-5:30am.

Our goal is to have Elijah sleep from 10pm-5am with no interruptions. Last night was a great start-10pm-1am and then 1:30-5:30am. At 5:30am he got what he wanted--some mama milk--and snuggled back down between us in the bed for another 1.5 hours or so. It was nice!!

I woke up at 5am and ran in there to see if he was still breathing and was pleased to find that he was :)

This may just be a freak one time occurance but with Elijah's 1/2 birthday coming up on Tuesday I am hoping that *maybe* he will start sleeping better and let me get some rest too!

Poor Justin has now shown that he has what it takes to get Elijah to sleep and now, I fear, he is the go to guy for the next couple of nights. Pray for him as he isn't used to the sleep deprivation, he normally sleeps through the crying.

On an unrelated note, click here for a video of Elijah laughing at Sadie.

Happy Birthday Justin

Yesterday was Justin's 28th birthday. I made him a baby Red Velvet Cake to enjoy on his actual birthday (he gets the big cake on Saturday during the family celebration). Here is Justin showing off his cake and a picture of Elijah enjoying it. Elijah got about one bite in his mouth and managed to smear the rest around the tray and his body. He went straight from the table to the bath!

Elijah's First Snow

Not knowing if the snow would "stick" around I snapped this shot as soon as it started to fall. Click the pic for a video. Later on I took one of Elijah making a snow angel (he is laughing in the picture) and this one of the two of us. Elijah seemed to like it.
Happy Birthday Daddy!!!!
