Summer Day

Today was beautiful! The kids didn't nap well after church so we decided to head on outside and tire them out before bed. We tried the water balloons that EJ got but he didn't really get the idea of a water balloon fight so we broke out the sprinkler. Last year was iffy with the sprinkler--he was afraid of it unless we had the stream down to a trickle. This year was an entirely different story. He was running through it, letting it spray him, spraying it on stuff . . . he had a blast! Lydia wanted to like it so much! The water was about 33 degrees--I think ice cubes were shooting out at some point--needless to say she saw her brother having a blast and then when she got there she couldn't understand why getting sprayed with icy water was supposed to be fun. Once her daddy grabbed her by the armpits and starting running her through the water really fast though she perked up.
Since it is supposed to be so great the rest of the week we decided to fill up the pool so it would be warm for tomorrow. The sub-zero temperatures didn't seem to bother the kids. I don't think you could have paid me to get in there! Elijah dumped a couple of cups of water on my legs and I was freezing! Lydia had a blast but turned purple and started shaking so we took her out and made her splash from the outside. Elijah seemed pretty immune to the cold water.
In a typical two year old manner he heard "Don't spray your sister." as a directive to douse his sisters head with the hose. This is an ancient art of brother torture and he is the master. He insisted that "Her likes it!" even as she was screaming in protest.

Mullet Tails

Oh yeah--Because I am just that mean of a mommy--I scraped together the hairs in Lydia's mullet and gave her some piggy tails. It made me smile all afternoon :)

Grass Pile

Elijah discovered the big pile of grass our neighbor put over the fence for us to use as compost in the garden. Who knew you could get that much grass in and on you??? The kids both got a bath BEFORE dinner :)

Lyddie and the Dentist

This morning Lydia had her first dentist visit. It went great. Baby P went with us and was good as gold. She loved having all the dental assistants fawn over her and Lydia and she just hung out in the stroller. Lydia did great. She walked around, got passed around and really enjoyed the little mirror (she's chewing on that above) She opened her mouth and said "ahhhh" just like we practiced at home. She let the dentist poke around in there even though she is cutting molars. He was very impressed with her attitude and said normally the babies just scream and scream. I was so totally impressed with the office--they took us right back and we were in and out in 15 minutes--including the paperwork.
I did the best I could with pictures but I was holding her during the actual exam so I don't have any of that. I like to take pictures so that we can look at them before we go back. Elijah loves to look at his old dentist visit pictures and then he isn't scared when we go.

Elijah's New Wall Art

Elijah loved the murals at the zoo. He told me while we were walking around he wanted stuff painted on his walls at home. His room is wallpapered with some UGLY wallpaper and a duck border. We hope to eventually take it down and do a better theme but haven't made it a priority--have you ever taken down wallpaper--it is horrible!! Anyway, I told him it was a good idea and he proceeded to ask about it all day on Friday about painting his wall. I relented and drew a tree frog on his wall with a sharpie on Friday. Saturday I painted it to look like his "lovey" named Stickeyfingers. [He has decided this is his lovey and he sleeps with it pressed between his thighs. In the morning I can see little handprints where it has been pushing. Leave it to a boy to pick that for a security item.]

Initially hubby wasn't too thrilled with the idea of painting these things on the wall but after he saw that it wasn't some stupid looking cartoon thingy and it wasn't 10 feet tall and he saw how much EJ loved it--he warmed up to the idea. Elijah was thrilled with the result. He immediately asked for a snake. He hasn't seen it yet but today while he was at my parents house I painted a snake by his bed. I hope he likes it as much as the frog.

Total cost for the project: $0.10!!! I had the paint and brushes in my crafting stuff. I got the picture off the computer (so I had to print out two sheets of paper) and I used a paper plate for my palatte. It took about 5 minutes to draw on the wall (I did it the same way I get pictures on cakes) and then about 45 minutes to paint it because I had to let it dry between colors and the yellow and green needed two coats to hide the ugly wallpaper completely. Not a bad way to spruce up the little misters room if I do say so myself.

Flower Time

Our azaleas are in full bloom and it is so beautiful here! Spring has sprung and I couldn't help myself--the kids just looked too cute with the flowers. Nevermind niether one had on shoes or pants--I am just that lazy. After the nap it just wasn't worth the battle to put on pants again.
Elijah loves how the flowers smell--he is constantly smelling them. I warn him not to sniff up a bee.

As if staples weren't enough--here is Elijah encouraging Lydia to eat the flowers. I told him to stop and he said : "But hers likes them. Hers likes the grass too--I fed her lots of that while you got your camera."

"Weeeeee" Lydia loves to swing--look at all those chompers!

Mr. sand. I think he could spend hours a day in that sandbox.

A couple of cute Elijah sayings this week. . . .
At the zoo--I was asking him to think about what makes each animal special. We got to the baboons and he said: "God made them have big red butts. Grampy called me baboon butt when my butt got red."
Yesterday I was teasing him and asking him if he was a frog, a gorilla, a horse etc. He was laughing and saying no every time. I asked him what he was and he said:
"I am mommy's precious gift from God."

Zoo Trip

Well--its been almost exactly one year since we went to the zoo. I must say Lydia enjoyed herself more this year and so did I. I didn't end up nursing for 5 solid hours and Lyddie spent most of the time in the stroller, not the sling. It was a nice break.

We went with Elijah's best bud-Dylan- and Dylan's mom and sister. It was a blast! Elijah and Dylan got along great for most of the day. They listened much better than your average two and three year old (in my opinion) and I learned how WONDERFUL it was to have a trip with two moms, four kids and a great destination. The weather was great, the sun was shining, a breeze was blowing at it was 70 degrees. Even pushing that stroller up the hills wasn't too bad (although Alysun and I are going to feel the burn in our butts tomorrow I am sure). A lot of animals were out and the Grizzly bear was the big hit for Elijah this time--he was so excited to see Grizzwold in person. The only lesson we learned the hard way was that we should have gotten two stollers. We thought the boys would walk and they did--but not happily. We ended up putting the boys in each other's lap and one of the babies up front and pushing. By the time we realized we needed another stroller we were so far into the zoo we couldn't go back and get one. Sigh--lesson learned. The Fall trip will be better for it!!

Elijah wouldn't get in the egg.

Grizzwold taking a bath.

Tired angels--they napped about 45 minutes while we strolled around. The smell of ice cream woke them both up.

Two tired boys--they only slept about 30 mintues though :(

Easter Pics

The weekend started out with the kids having a "Sleepover Party" at Granny and Grampy's while we went to Justin's family's celebration for Bradley and Sherry's bday. Here we are--all cleaned up. It was so nice to get showered and made up without the kids there to "help" me.
Easter morning I got the kids and we all went to church. After church we went to Grandmama's to show off the kids' outfits and get my camera which I left over there. We came home, did Easter baskets and had lunch. I don't have pics of that because I apparantly have camera amnesia and I left it at my parents house later on in the day. These pics are courtesy of my MIL and her new totally awesome camera that she got for her birthday. Its an SLR and despite my kids having rockets on their feet, it manages to get them in focus because it can take 3 frames a second.

Lydia had a blast at my parents later in the day. She was loving all of the attention. Now that she is over her grass aversion she enjoyed running around in the yard and trying to find eggs.

My parents and SIL and Brother did a great job of "hiding" the eggs. You had to looka little bit but it wasn't too hard for Elijah and Lydia to find them. Eliah had a blast hunting the eggs too.
Nana and Papa and Granny and Grampy all did some stuff for easter. It was nice. It is also sad to say they got our kids more than we did. :)

Before the big dinner we attempted to get a family picture. Elijah was not cooperating.

After dinner we just hung out and had a good time.
Happy Easter!

We had a great Easter--I am just too lazy to post any pics now--hopefully tomorrow or maybe later tonight . . . who knows :)

A Really Cool Cookie Cake

Had to share--it turned out so cool! I loved super mario brothers!

I'll have a Minti Hottie Please

Today after the grocery store Elijah said we needed to get Daddy a Latte.

"Mommy--Look a Starbucks! Is Krysti working?"
Me: "No baby--she doesn't work there anymore."
"Daddy needs a special coffee. He would feel loved and snugged if we get him a coffee."

So we go and I order Justin's favorite--a Venti Latte.

We get home about 5 minutes later--
"Daddy! We got you a Minti Hottie" (me--whispering "Venti Latte")
"Daddy Look! A Minti Latte!!"

It was too cute!

Let's Get Jumpin!

We had a great time at Jumpin Monkey. Lyddie loved it this time because she could walk around and stand in the jumpers. She finally got her footing and she looked at me and yelled "ta-da!" and lifted her arms up. She also conned a worker into taking her up the big slide. Who could resist those baby blues and those little arms reaching and pointing to go up the slide.

Here's a picture of Elijah in the toddler jumper. He called it a "bafari" when he was talking about it this morning.

Here's Elijah giving Lyddie a bounce in the "Lenny" shark bouncer. She loved it! He was actually pretty careful and only jumped on her one time the whole hour. Thankfully it is really squishy and she didn't even miss a beat.

Here's a video of the little daredevil. I think she went down about 5 times in the hour we were there.

Easter Egg Hunt!

We had a great time today at Elijah's preschool's Easter Egg hunt. It was much calmer than Peace Church's last year. There were about 25 kids and the eggs were actually hidden a little bit instead of just strewn all over. Elijah had a great time. He found a whole basket full of eggs and Lydia found two. She was content with her haul :)

Spring is here!

I love spring--barefoot in the backyard, flowers everywhere! It is wonderful. The rest of my family doesn't enjoy it quite so much--it appears both kids and Justin have allergies. Lyddie is coughing and snotting everywhere. Elijah is begging for some "booger bears" (Vitamin C bears) to fight the boogers. Justin has had sinus headaches every day this week. I feel great (though I am a bit sleepy from getting up with snotty kids).

Anyone know what makes peas and other plants taste gross to rabbits? We had over 50 peas in the garden and so many of them have fallen prey to the rabbit that lives in our back yard. I am happy to share but this rabbit has eaten them all! That isn't cool with me. I don't want to hurt it, just make our garden off limits.
